Herne
Bay and the surrounding area offers a wealth of attractions
to visitors, from fishing trips and seal watching
to organised boat trips to visit the historic Maunsell
Army Sea Forts and the futuristic wind farms just
off the coast. More sedate activities include attractive
gardens and promenades, a variety of musical and
dramatic entertainment at the refurbished Bandstand
and at Kings Hall, an interesting town museum and
a variety of pubs, clubs and restaurants to cater
for all tastes.
For
the history and culture buffs there is the ancient
Roman site of Reculver just around the coast, the
Cathedral city of Canterbury with it's cobbled streets,
thriving pedestrianised city centre with cafes, bars,
art galleries galore. A few miles away is the Dickensian
town of Broadstairs where the author lived and worked
and an R.A.F. museum dedicated to the Battle of Britain
pilots at Manston.. A couple of miles in the other
direction is the picturesque town of Whitstable with
it's working harbour, many fish restaurants and age
old association with oysters.
Whatever
your taste may be, Herne Bay and the area around
it offers all that you could possibly want. Nature
lovers, culture lovers, food and drink lovers and
old fashioned seaside town lovers are all catered
for!
